Museum vandalized again

For the second time this month, the Greater Vernon Museum and Archives have dealt with vandalism.

Rocks thrown through two of the museum's doors set off alarm bells at the museum at about 7 a.m. Friday morning.

Despite the smashed windows, Tracy Satin, museum director, said nothing in the building appears to have been taken.

“Somebody who was outside, threw a rock in, and then came in, and then threw the rock out,” Satin said.

She said there was no security camera facing the doors to catch the perpetrator in the act.

Satin, who only started working at the museum five months ago, said a fire was set behind the building on Sept. 9.

“I think the universe is sending some challenges,” Satin said with a laugh.

Satin maintains a positive outlook on the ordeal.

“Things like this do happen, being in a growing city,” she said. “We're just really happy and lucky that, again for the second time, nothing in the museum was damaged or broken and it didn't cause too much hardship for anyone.”
