Get wild at gala

The Allan Brooks Nature Centre wants people to get wild.

The Wine & Wild Things Sparkling Gala and Auction will be held in the ballroom at Sparkling Hill Resort Sept. 24 at 7 p.m.

The 15th annual event will benefit the ABNC with its goal to sustain and expand the educational programs it provides for youth, families and nature lovers.

The reception-style event begins with an award-winning glass of Ex Nihilo Vineyard wine or signature cocktail from Okanagan Spirits Craft Distillery in the Fireside Lounge.

There will be a silent or live auction, a photo booth, gourmet hors d'oeuvres, a comedy show, dessert buffets and more.

But this will be no ordinary affair.

The centre is teaming up with local nature organizations to get guests closer to raptors and other wild things during the event so the gala will feature a kangaroo joey, a cuddly boa constrictor and a hawk.
