Caddy erupts in flames

It was anything but a smooth ride for one driver Thursday night when smoke began pouring from the front of his 1995 Cadillac.

The driver stopped at Black Rock Road and Francis Street and lifted the hood to find his power steering on fire, said BX-Swan Lake Fire Chief Bill Wacey.

Firefighters arrived on the scene around 6:45 p.m. and put out the blaze.

“There's not usually any issue with power steering bursting into flames,” said Wacey, who suspects a mechanical fault is to blame.
