Ice changing in Lumby!

The NHL's top icemaker was in Lumby this week and has changed the look of the village's Pat Duke Arena.

Lumby won the Kraft Hockeyville 2016 title and $100,000 in renovations to the aging rink.

Identified only as 'Wayne', the pro league's top man on the job helped arena staff make top quality NHL ice – and added the Hockeyville logo to the faceoff circle.

“All those who enter the Pat Duke Arena will notice Lumby is Kraft Hockeyville,” said Angie Clowry, local organizer.

While the local committee has admittedly been tight-lipped about who will be in Lumby for Kraft Hockeyville Day on Saturday, Oct. 1st, Clowry has promised updates on a weekly basis.

An NHL pre-season game between the Edmonton Oilers and L.A. Kings is slated for Vernon's Kal Tire Place on Sunday, Oct. 2 but the day before will be all Lumby's with current and former NHL players invited to the Pat Duke Arena and Oval Park from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

“Bring your skates, hockey stick, gloves and your camera,” said Clowry.
