Hwy 6 chain reaction

UPDATE: 3:08 p.m.

The driver of a pickup truck has been ticketed for driving without due care and attention, following a crash on Highway 6 involving four vehicles, according to the RCMP.

While the accident is still under investigation, it appears that a truck rear-ended another vehicle causing a chain reaction that involved four vehicles in total, said Cpl. Joe Leeson of the Vernon RCMP detachment.

The accident occurred just east of Middleton Way near a construction zone, said Leeson.

UPDATE: 11:36 a.m.

A total of four vehicles were involved in a crash on the 1100 block of Highway 6 Wednesday morning just after 10 a.m.

"Three vehicles had substantial front and rear-end damage and the fourth had front end damage," said fire captain Reinhard Mann, of Vernon Fire Rescue. "There were no serious injuries and no one was transported to hospital."

Mann said the RCMP were investigating the cause of the crash.

"There was a construction crew in the area with flaggers but I'm not sure if that was a possible partial cause. As I said, the RCMP are investigating."

The scene of the accident is reported to have been cleared.

Police and emergency crews are on the scene of a crash on Highway 6 heading west into Vernon.

According to an eye witness, a number of cars were rear-ended.

It is not known if there were any injuries.

Traffic is down to single lanes on both sides of the highway.

Castanet will update when more details become available.
