Vernon Fire Rescue crews fought a small grass fire in the 5200 block of Old Kamloops Road Thursday night.
“Passersby spotted the fire and notified RCMP who called us,” said fire captain Reinhard Mann.
While the fire grew to only about 20 by 40 feet in size, Mann said it could easily have grown into something significant.
“There is a lot of of fuel along the side of the road. Luckily it was on the eastern side as the west side is steep.”
No ignition source could be seen and investigators will be out today to determine the cause, said Mann.
