VSS goes Hollywood

A Vernon high school has gone Hollywood.

Vampires are roaming the halls of Vernon Secondary School for the filming of Drink Slay Love.

Numerous trucks of various description have taken over the school parking lot with people seen carrying racks of clothes into the school Monday.

Drink Slay Love is about a typical 16-year-old vampire named Pearl who is fond of blood, allergic to sunlight and generally pretty evil, until a unicorn stabs her through the heart with his horn.

School District 22 superintendent Joe Rogers said crews will be at VSS for three days and then at Clarence Fulton Secondary School for a day where they will be filming in the marshy area next to the school.

"We are really excited about this," said Rogers. "There are lots of drama and film/TV students as extras on set," said Rogers.

Along with students gaining some real world experience, the district will also make a little bit of money from the rental of the facilities.

Okanagan Film Commissioner Jon Summerland said the film is being produced by Vancouver-based Sepia Films, Los Angeles-based Just Singer Entertainment, and Co-Executive Producer Bella Thorne.

Starring in the film will be Cierra Ramirez, an acting, singing sensation, who made her stage debut at the Apollo Theatre at 10 years of age. She is best know for her roles in The Fosters, Girl in Progress, and The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

Gregg Sulkin will also have a role. He has appeared in Faking it, Pretty Little Liars, The Wizards of Waverly Place and in the gritty crime drama Anti-Social.
