Walk, roll, ride in Lumby

Lumby is gearing up for Kraft Hockeyville Week and everyone is invited.

The community, 25 minutes from Vernon on Highway 6, won the 2016 Kraft Hockeyville title earlier this year and will host an NHL pre-season game between the Edmonton Oilers and Los Angeles Kings on Oct 2nd. Lumby also received $100,000 for renovations to its aging arena.

Although Lumby won the contest, the game will be held at Vernon's Kal Tire Place.

However, a variety events are still planned for Lumby.

The Lumby and District Health Services Society will be kicking off the week of events with the Walk, Roll or Run Sunday, Sept. 25. Participants have their choice of a one, three or eight-kilometre course.

Funds raised from the event will help with educational clinics such as foot care and diabetes and may be used for a variety of other items and to help attract doctors to Lumby.
