Cyclist hit by truck

A man was taken to hospital with a shoulder injury after being hit by a truck while cycling along Kal Lake Road Thursday afternoon.

Vernon Fire Rescue Cpt. Darren Cecchini said the cyclist was riding along the bike path heading towards Kal Lake when a truck made a right-hand turn from 11th Street, striking the rider.

Cecchini said the driver of the truck stopped to make sure the cyclist was OK before leaving the scene.

However, police would like to talk to the driver about the incident.

The unidentified cyclist was taken to Vernon Jubilee Hospital to be checked over.
