Reward to catch cat trapper

A national wildlife protection group wants to find out who hurt Bruce the cat.

Last Sunday, the eight-month-old cat got caught in what is believed to have been a leg hold trap in Lumby, shattering his leg which had to be amputated.

The Fur-Bearers are putting money on the line to find out what happened.

The national group is offering a $1,000 reward for anyone with information leading to the identification and conviction of the person(s) responsible for setting the trap.

Those with information are urged to contact the BC SPCA at 1-855-622-7722.

“It’s disturbingly common for us to hear about beloved pets being injured in horrific ways by traps in British Columbia,” said Adrian Nelson, spokesperson for The Fur-Bearers. “Due to the nature of traps and trapping laws, we can’t know many things about this incident unless individuals come forward to help identify the person or persons responsible.”

Bruce’s family have offered a $100 reward for information.
