Suspicious car fire

Vernon Fire Rescue officials and the RCMP are investigating a suspicious car fire that caused extensive damage to the interior of the vehicle, said deputy chief Jack Blair.

Firefighters were called to the blaze on the 3800 block of 28A Street at 4:50 a.m Wednesday.

"The fire appeared to have been mostly extinguished by the time (firefighters) arrived on scene," said Blair, adding that the owners had been fighting the fire. "There was extensive fire and smoke damage to the interior of the car."

"When we arrived on scene the fire was considered suspicious. We were unsure of what caused it and that's why we called the RCMP."
