Truck thief gets away

Vernon RCMP were called to the Hartnell Road area of the BX for a report of a suspicious truck and trailer Monday evening, but ended up on another case.

While they were checking out the truck and trailer, a stolen truck drove right past an investigating officer.

Cpl. Dan Moskaluk said that when police attempted to stop the truck, the suspect jumped from the vehicle and took off running.

The police service dog was called in, but the bad guy got away.

The incident created a bit of a stir on social media with one person posting that numerous police were in the area.

Another person posted that police told them they were looking for someone “with long hair who would look out of place in the area.”
