Court for home invasion

One of the men charged with the forcible confinement of a senior citizen in Vernon this past spring will face a preliminary inquiry in Vernon provincial court.

Maurice Pierre Perrier, 46, will be back in court Oct. 17 for a two-day hearing.

Perrier and Gregory Philip Jolicoeur, 50, were both charged with forcible confinement after a home invasion in which an elderly man was tied up in his own home.

The two are also facing charges of break and enter and possession of stolen property over $5,000. As well, Perrier is charged with disguising face with intent to commit offence while Jolicoeur is charged with flight from a peace officer.

Jolicoeur's next appearance in court is Aug. 4.

On March 19, two men broke into a residence in the Bella Vista area where an 83-year-old man was tied up and robbed before the assailants fled in a Winnebago.

The home owner managed to free himself and called police to report the crime.

Two suspects were arrested a short time later, RCMP reported at the time.
