Street party in Enderby

Businesses along Cliff Avenue in Enderby plan to hold a party on Saturday to celebrate the reopening of the newly-renovated main street.

Music and games will be part of the fun as businesses lay out their wares, hoping to bring back trade to the downtown following the weeks-long work that has transformed the street.

The event takes place July 16th, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Aside from major infrastructure work, the street has a new look that includes new seating areas, lighting and tall metal pylons, meant to bring to mind the nearby Shuswap River.

“The street lighting is going in today,” said Mayor Greg McCune on Thursday. “The pylons look fantastic. I've had at least 40 text messages from people today about them.”

The street event will also allow residents to congratulate the U-16 Enderby Storm girls' fastball team which took gold in the recent B.C. provincial championships, said McCune.
