Walker suffers injuries

An older man out for a walk suffered a laceration to his head and arm Thursday morning after being struck by the side of a vehicle at 25th Avenue and Highway 6, according to Vernon Fire Rescue.

First responders were called at 6:50 a.m.

The man was “hit by the side of the car, the mirror,” said fire captain Chris Robinson. “We helped get him into the ambulance” at which point the male was taken to hospital.

The man was in the crosswalk when the incident occurred, according to the RCMP.

The male driver of the vehicle, also a senior, is facing a possible charge under the Motor Vehicle Act, police said.
