Gun call a false alarm

A large police presence on the Pelmewash Parkway yesterday caught the attention of many, but it turned out to be a false alarm.

Const. Jesse O'Donaghey says officers were called to a pull out along Pelmewash Parkway after receiving a report of a possible firearm being pointed across Wood Lake.

“Officers attended and dealt with several less-than-co-operative individuals camping in the area,” explains O'Donaghey.

“No one was taken into custody and officers did search a vehicle associated to persons matching the description of the suspects provided by the complainant.”

A witness tells Castanet there were at least three marked police vehicles at the small picker camp near the Wood Lake Terrace RV & Campground.

O'Donaghey says police conducted a search and no weapons were located. Police were later advised by the complainant that the suspect vehicle had since departed the area.
