First arson, now porn

William Murray Phelps Munton was arrested June 1 and charged with four counts of arson.

Police are continuing to investigate Munton and more arson charges are possible.

Munton, 55, is also facing two charges of making or publishing child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

Munton is a former school teacher in the Salmon Arm area who was fired "with cause" in 2005, says Alice Hucul, a spokesperson with the North Okanagan Shuswap School District.

For the arson, Munton faces four charges of intentionally or recklessly causing damage by fire or explosion to property, including a mini van, a new home in Coldstream, a duplex under construction in Vernon and tires and a trailer that belonged to the Go Kart Association.

The incidents took place between June and November 2014.
