Cliff Avenue colours

Major upgrades to Enderby's main street have been frustrating for businesses and residents, but there is excitement too, says Mayor Greg McCune.

“They realized the downtown was not going in a great direction,” said McCune.

Some residents were shocked when 15 mature trees were ripped out along on Cliff Avenue to allow construction teams to replace underground infrastructure. The trees are being replaced.

A total of $1.9 million is being spent for reconstruction and beautification of the street.

“It's going to be vibrant. People are going to head downtown just to hang out,” said McCune. “Business has been patient and they'll see the end product.”

Many of the businesses are interested in upgrading the outside of their buildings in order to fit in with the new look, said the mayor.

“Every business but one has asked about upgrades to their buildings,” said McCune. “We've even got a colour scheme and staff have been showing business owners what to use.”

He said two other downtown businesses have also expressed interest in upgrading their premises.

“It's a domino effect,” said McCune.

City staff have come up with 11 muted colours for the main walls including; gray mist, vichyssoise, marlboro blue and eucalyptus green. There are 12 accent colours and six for trim.
