Where will game be played?

Officials are asking people to take a brief break from the Lumby Days festivities Saturday for a Hockeyville announcement.

Lumby won the Kraft Hockeyville 2016 title earlier this year. Along with bragging rights, the town 25 minutes from Vernon on Highway 6 also won $100,000 to renovate the aging Pat Duke Memorial Arena and the chance to host a pre-season NHL game between Edmonton and Los Angeles.

The question remains where that game will be held, with Vernon, Kelowna and Lumby all as possibilities.

Angie Clowry, who lead the Hockeyville charge, said the announcement will be made Saturday at 3 p.m. at Oval Park.

Clowry could not say what the announcement will entail and she urged people to stop by and find out.

“We are currently in discussions and finalizing events for Kraft Hockeyville week in Lumby starting Sunday, Sept. 25,” said Clowry in an email.

The bid to enter the Kraft Hockeyville contest was done in honour of Peter Catt, a Lumby hockey player and coach who died suddenly last November from a heart attack.

A memorial video in his memory has been made warning about heart disease and urging people to be checked for it.

The video can be found online.
