Revving up for cruise-in

The Sun Valley Cruise-In has revved up so much attention it's being expanded through an entire weekend.

The event kicks off on July 15 in downtown Vernon when hotrods of all manner take over 30th Avenue from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Andy Freeland said this portion of the car show is free and will feature the band Shades of Grey, which will provide “some old time rockin' music.”

“For the main show on Saturday (July 16) in Polson Park, the cash pot for prize money has grown to almost $5,000 with lots of giveaways throughout the day,” said Freeland, adding there is also a draw prize for early bird registration.

Participants registering by June 30 will be eligible for a draw for a package at the Hotel Eldorado on Kelowna's lakefront.

“On Saturday evening there will be an old time hot summer's night cruise-in at a local hotel and pub,” said Freeland. “There will be a designated and secure parking for all show cars and cruisers, and the ever popular band Linus will be providing live music within The Green pub. A fun night of cars, dancing and some more give-aways in the pub.”

The weekend of high-octane activities wraps up Sunday, July 17, with a 'cruise-out' starting at 10:30 a.m.

Presently, there are registrations from as far away as Williams Lake, Sylvan Lake, Vancouver and Saskatchewan.
