Plenty of fun at Fun Days

Hundreds of people made the most of a sunny Sunday by heading to Oyama Fun Days.

The annual event featured a range of activities, vendors, games, bouncy castles and live entertainment.

One vendor said the crowds were very large this year and the mercury climbed into the mid-30s.

New for the 2016 event was the Jumpstart crew.

Sport Chek employees manned a variety of sports-related games to raise money for Jumpstart, a national charitable program dedicated to removing financial barriers that keep kids out of the game.

Studies have shown one in three Canadian families cannot afford to enroll their children in sport and recreation activities due to lack of funds.

Vallerie Byrne, Sport Chek Kelowna Jumpstart Amabassador, said around $1,000 was raised through the various Jumpstart events. Half of the money raised will go to the Oyama Hall with the other half earmarked to help Okanagan children get into some form of sports.\
