Action for missing woman

The case of a missing Aboriginal woman from Enderby is prompting action from the Splatsin and other First Nations.

Caitlyn Brandy Potts, 27, has not been heard from since Feb. 22.

Despite appeals from the police and Pott's mother, Priscilla, there has been no sign of the young woman.

Senior leaders plan to hold a news conference next Tuesday when plans for a search for Potts will be set out.

Organizer Charlene Belleau, chief of the Esketemc First Nation, refused to comment ahead of the news conference, except to say that the chiefs “need to mobilize.”

Splatsin First Nation chief Wayne Christian, Grand Chief Stewart Phillip, president of the Union of B.C. Indian Chiefs, and Grand Chief Doug Kelly, chair of the First Nations Health Council, will join Priscilla Potts at a news conference before plans for the search are put forward.

Meanwhile, the Southeast District Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate the case.

Potts is described as approximately five-foot-three-inches tall and 150 lbs., with brown eyes and black hair.
