Driver cops to hit and run

A pickup truck driver who's alleged to have been involved in a May 6 hit-and-run accident involving a mother and daughter cycling on Buchanan Road in Coldstream has spoken with police.

The unidentified man is expected to be charged in connection with the incident, said Sgt. Mike Moyer.

“He turned himself in,” confirmed the officer.

Moyer said charges have been recommended to Crown Counsel, although he could not say what those charges would be.

The women were riding their bikes along the road around 8:10 p.m. that Friday evening when they were struck by a black pickup truck.

Both were taken to Vernon Jubilee Hospital by ambulance.

The mother, 55, sustained a concussion and back injuries.

This past weekend, about 20 people attended the home of the injured women to help put in fruit trees and a vegetable garden because she was not able to do so herself due to her injuries.
