Armed gas station robbery

Vernon RCMP is investigating the armed robbery of a local convenience store.

On May 8 at about 8:30 p.m., police were dispatched to a report of a robbery at Esso gas station and convenience store in the 2400 block of 34th Street.

Cpl. Dan Moskaluk said the suspect pulled out a knife and demanded money from the clerk.

He's described as a Caucasian male described as being between 22 and 27 years old, 5-foot-9 to 6-feet, tall, skinny, with shaggy blonde hair, some facial scars, wearing black jeans and a purple shirt.

“The theft was witnessed by other patrons and the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured in the incident. A police service dog did attend the scene, however was unable to locate the suspect,” said Moskaluk.

The investigation is ongoing with the Vernon RCMP urging anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area or may have information to contact the Vernon RCMP at 250-545-7171 or call Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477.
