Attainable housing forum

Efforts to find innovative and affordable ways to build housing in Vernon will be at the forefront during a one-day housing forum this month.

The City of Vernon, Social Planning Council the Land Trust and Everton Ridge Homes are hosting the forum to provide information, ideas and networking opportunities for people interested in attainable housing an innovative designs.

It takes place at the Schubert Centre on May 19, 3-6 p.m.

“We want the community to know about programs and policies that encourage attainable and accessible housing,” said Coun. Juliette Cunningham, chair of the city's affordable housing committee.

The sessions are broken down into three main segments:

  • 3 p.m. BC Housing and CHMC officials will talk about provincial and federal funding
  • 4 p.m. “Flash” 10-minute presentations, including one on tiny homes
  • 5 p.m. Safer Homes guidelines.
