Two SUVs collided at 32nd Street (Highway 97) and 30th Avenue in downtown Vernon just before 9 a.m. Thursday, sending one man to hospital.
The man was seen being taken away by stretcher while fire crews cleaned up liquids leaking from one of the vehicles that was blocking one southbound lane of the highway.
The other vehicle had gone up over the curb, crashing into a small city tree.
A fire engine blocked the second southbound lane.
