Driver killed near Enderby

UPDATE: 12:00 P.M.

North Okanagan RCMP have released a few more details about a two vehicle accident near Enderby Monday evening that left a male driver dead.

RCMP say the collision between a car and a tractor trailer unit took place on Hwy 97A near Enderby, around 5:20 p.m.

A northbound car collided with a southbound tractor trailer unit, says a police press release.

The 61-year-old male driver and lone occupant of the car was pronounced deceased at the scene.

No one else was injured as a result of the collision.

Police are asking witnesses to the collision to call the Enderby RCMP detachment at (250) 838-6818.


UPDATE 9:30 A.M. 

A 61-year-old man was killed when his Pontiac Sunfire crossed the centre line on Highway 97A north of Enderby and hit a semi-truck Monday evening, according to an official.

The Enderby fire department was called out at 5:20 p.m., said Chief Kevin Alstad.

The accident took place just before Fas Gas on the Vernon-Sicamous stretch of the highway.

The name and hometown of the driver have not been released.

The accident closed the highway for over five hours while RCMP investigated the scene.

DriveBC says Highway 97A has now reopened.

A two-vehicle collision north of Enderby has apparently claimed a life.

The crash, involving a semi and a car, occurred sometime before 7 p.m. this evening.

No other details are available at this time.

Highway 97A is closed in both directions about 8km north of Enderby due to the crash.

According to DriveBC, the road could be closed until midnight.

Motorists are asked to obey signs

A detour is in effect.
