Condition leads to accident

A man was taken to Vernon Jubilee Hospital following a single-vehicle accident Wednesday morning.

Police, firefighters and ambulance crews responded to the accident at the intersection of 27th Street and Highway 6 just before 10:30 a.m.

Police said the senior male was northbound on Highway 6 when a suspected medical condition caused him to lose control of his silver Honda, cross the road and strike a concrete barrier on the edge of the sidewalk.

The barrier separates the road from Polson Park which is down a 10-metre embankment.

The unidentified man was awake and talking to emergency crews as he was loaded into an ambulance.

Firefighters had to remove the man through the passenger side of the car as the driver's side was wedged against cement barrier.
