Drawing a line in the road

Vernon councillor Scott Anderson has been getting complaints about the poor visibility of faded pavement markings on city streets after the winter snow and salt wore them away.

“It's not just the yellow lines, it's the white lines and every other line that's on the streets — a lot of complaints we've had about them wearing away too fast,” Anderson said. “I'd like to see a different type of paint used that actually sticks around for more than 10 minutes.”

“Staff is looking into costs to change the type of paint we currently use,” said city spokeswoman Tanya Laing-Gahr.

City staff is expected to report on the matter at the next regular council meeting.
