City staff say phase one of major renovations at the Vernon Recreation Centre should be completed by mid-April. That's when the front doors are expected to reopen after a months-long refurbishment of the interior.

Cabinets for the new Creekside Energy Bar are currently being installed and equipment is expected to arrive this week.

However, a report to Vernon council advises phase two will begin once those front doors reopen. The west entrance to the Rec Centre will then be closed.

Work on phase two is expected to wrap up in late May.
