SPCA looking into killing

The BCSPCA has taken over an investigation into what happened to a dog that was found shot in the head Sunday near Chase.

The body of the short-haired brown and white dog was found in the parking lot of the Crowfoot Mountain recreation area.

The lot belongs to the Crowfoot Mountain Snowmobile Club whose members made the gruesome discovery.

“Chase RCMP has contacted the BCSPCA in order for the appropriate provincial agency to investigate the matter,” said Cpl. Dan Moskaluk.

More than 24 hours after the dog's body was found, comments are still being posted on FaceBook by people outraged by the act.

The dog, which appears to be a boxer cross, has also been identified online as Oskar, but that cannot be confirmed. The owner of the dog has not been identified.

Pictures of a dog with a strong resemblance to the slain animal have also been posted.
