Avalanche victim named

The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died following an avalanche near Celista last weekend.

Bryan David Morry, 37, of Celista, was snowmobiling with friends on Crowfoot Mountain, north of Shuswap Lake, March 13.

The group stopped for a lunch break when Morry was struck by an avalanche.

Shuswap Search and Rescue were called, but Morry was deceased at the scene and his body was recovered.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.

About a week earlier, crews recovered the body of a 34-year-old man on a solo backcountry trip in an avalanche zone near Sicamous.
