Family Day at Carnival

Hundreds of families turned out for Family Day events in Polson Park Monday, as part of Vernon's Winter Carnival.

Children clambered aboard a Vernon Fire Rescue fire truck, while others played broom ball and a myriad of other games throughout the centre of the park.

As well, children, parents and grandparents gathered round a big bonfire complete with hot chocolate and smores.

The Okanagan Science Centre, located in Polson Park, held a Mardi Gras Float Maker Day.

Carnival chairperson Deb White said the science centre event is “great for kids.”

“They can build their own Mardi Gras float and then they are going to have a little parade around the science centre,” said White.

Rounding out the day of carnival events was the Server Olympics.

Held at Kelly O'Bryans, teams of four relay through an obstacle course while carrying food and drink.
