Vernon Fire Rescue was reporting “treacherous conditions” on local highways and some roads following snowfall Wednesday afternoon into the evening.
Fire crews attended one accident just after 5 p.m. on Highway 97 south, just past Birnie Road where a vehicle went into the ditch. No one was seriously hurt.
Some semi-trailer trucks were putting on chains to get up the hills south of Vernon, according to Cpt. Dan Walker of the fire service.
