Arrest in 3 robberies

A Vernon man has been arrested following a string of robberies in the city.

About 2 a.m. Thursday, police were called to a robbery at the 7-Eleven store on 39th Avenue.

A lone male entered the store, produced a knife and demanded employees open the cash register. The man stole an undisclosed amount of money and fled the store.

Two hours later, RCMP responded to Mac's convenience store on 27th Avenue for another robbery.

A male had entered the store, threatened a female employee and demanded she open the cash register. He fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

That evening, about 8:40 p.m., a man entered Village Green Liquor Store, pulled a knife and threatened the cashier, demanding money from the register. He again fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

No employees were injured in any of the robberies.

The suspect was arrested a short time later, after a review of surveillance video and forensic evidence.

Jeremiah Miller, 42, has been charged with three counts of robbery. He appeared in provincial court on Friday and has been remanded in custody until Feb. 10.

RCMP are still actively investigating the incidents, and anyone with information is asked to call police at 250-545-7171, or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
