Christian remains chief

Wayne Christian has been re-elected chief of the Splatsin First Nation.

Results from Tuesday's election shows Christian garnered 126 of the 241 ballots cast for chief. Four people ran against him.

Christian has worked for 30 years in establishing healing and health systems for B.C.'s indigenous nations. He is co-chairperson of the Shuswap Nation tribal council.

Just last month, Christian was front and centre as the Splatsin opened a massive community centre, considered the jewel in the crown of the community.

The Splatsin are also working on a plan with the City of Enderby to extend the popular Riverwalk alongside the Shuswap River to the new community centre.

Among 30 people who ran for council, those elected include George Dennis, Edna Felix, Daniel Joe, George William and Lawrence (Randy) Williams.
