Driver trapped in rollover

The driver of a black SUV had to be freed by Vernon Fire rescue following a rollover Wednesday morning.

Police, ambulance and firefighters responded to the accident in Okanagan Landing at 7:15 a.m. to find the driver of the vehicle trapped.

Police at the scene said fire crews had to remove the windshield of the vehicle to extract the driver who was not seriously injured. The lone occupant of the SUV was taken to Vernon Jubilee Hospital as a precaution.

The SUV was eastbound on Okanagan Landing Road when the driver lost control and rolled down an embankment, coming to rest on Brooks Lane.

Police said road conditions were to blame for the accident and it was one of several calls emergency crews had responded to so far Wednesday morning.
