Motorists may have wished they filled up this morning.

Tuesday morning, gas in Vernon was sitting at 97.9 at some stations and 99.9 at others, but by the afternoon the price had ballooned to 106.9.

The price of a litre of petrol had been dropping like a feather over the past few weeks, but it went up like a rocket with the nine-cent-a-litre jump.

However, according to gasbuddy.com, some stations were still selling gas for 97.9 as of 3:30 Tuesday afternoon.
