Some of the Christmas lights on the roof of Vernon Jubilee Hospital are already twinkling.
The VJH Foundation says $29,318 has been raised since launching the annual Light a Bulb campaign Nov. 12.
“Service clubs, community groups, businesses and individuals have all stepped up early," says campaign chair Marg Bailey.
The foundation is aiming to raise $200,000 in donations for orthopaedic equipment to increase hip and knee surgeries at the hospital.
Bailey points to a big cheque from the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and Royal Purple Vernon Lodge #123 as one example.
Light a Bulb brochures are being delivered this week to homes in Vernon, Armstrong, Enderby, Salmon Arm and Lumby.
The foundation asks that anyone making a donation online visit its website or mail a cheque to the attention of VJH Foundation, 2101-32nd St., Vernon, BC V1T 5L2.
