Police bust driving toker

A 26-year-old Vernon man found out the hard way RCMP have a nose for crime.

The unidentified man was an easy catch for officers of the North Okanagan Traffic Services division on Nov. 7 when they noticed the smell of marijuana coming from his vehicle as they were travelling east along Highway 6.

“They quickly determined that it was coming from the vehicle in front of them, which also had expired validation tags on its licence plate,” said Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy, adding the driver not only had marijuana in the car, but was also smoking it when police pulled him over.

“Police stopped the vehicle and investigated further. The lone occupant was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.”

The mans also failed drug sobriety testing and was issued a 24-hour suspension of his driver's licence.

A large amount of money was found in the vehicle which was seized as proceeds of crime.
