Semi side-swipes camper

Two people are lucky to have only minor injuries after their pickup was side-swiped by a tractor trailer on Sunday.

The incident occurred just east of Salmon Arm on the Trans-Canada Highway, about 6 p.m.

RCMP Sgt. Scott West said an investigation determined a eastbound tractor trailer crossed the centre line and side-swiped the westbound truck, which had a camper on the back.

“The driver of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries, and his passenger was unharmed," said West.

However, the truck suffered extensive damaged and the camper, which was pulled from the pickup truck’s box, was a total loss.

Charges under the Motor Vehicles Act have been laid against the driver of the tractor trailer.
