Police seize burned truck

UPDATE: 11:30 a.m.

Vernon RCMP have seized a burned-out pickup for examination following the latest, unexplained vehicle fire in the area.

Dramatic pictures from Vernon Fire Rescue show the Chevy Silverado ablaze at Rising View Way and Okanagan Hills Boulevard in The Rise neighbourhood, overlooking Okanagan Lake.

Officers and crews from Vernon Fire Rescue were called to the fire about 9:45 Monday night.

Police are asking anyone with information to get in touch.

“We certainly don't have any reason to believe we have an arsonist who's targeting vehicles, at this point,” said Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy, RCMP spokesperson.

Last Wednesday, three vehicles in an orchard were set alight on the 3000 block of Davison Road in the Bella Vista area.

The fire chief called the fire suspicious.

Police are also asking the public for information in that case.
