Checking the infrastructure

Inspections are to be carried out on Vernon's aging bridges and culverts.

Crews will be checking the condition of the infrastructure throughout the city from Oct. 26 to 30.

There are no substantial worries, according to spokesperson Tanya Laing Gahr.

“However, understanding the current status of our infrastructure, particularly as it ages, is a primary concern for the City,” she added.

The work will provide City officials with information to be used in long term capital improvement planning and budget matters.

“We have a current cap of 1.9 percent increases year-over-year to the infrastructure budget so knowing the state of our infrastructure helps us plan out years in advance,” said Laing Gahr.

Significant repair and maintenance work has been carried out on other infrastructure projects over the last couple of years, she said.
