Have you seen Diego?

Tonya Olson is hoping someone knows where her beloved dog Diego is.

The five-year-old blonde Chihuahua has been missing since Monday, following a car accident on Highway 97 near Bailey Road.

Olson's boyfriend was heading south with Diego and a papillon named Rizza when he hit the ditch and rolled his truck. Both dogs were in the cab when the accident happened.

“The dogs must have jumped out of the broken window, or were thrown out,” said Olson, who had Diego since he was a pup.

A bystander at the scene of the accident found Rizza and took him to a veterinarian in Kelowna, who tracked Olson down.

Olson said she's grateful the man saved Rizza. He also said he saw Diego running down the highway, so Olson knows the dog survived the crash.

Since then, she has been frantically looking for her pet.

Olson has spent several hours searching the area for Diego, but was unable to find the small dog.

“I'm going to be searching every day until I get him back. I know he's out there,” she said, adding a man contacted her Tuesday evening and told he he spotted a dog matching Diego's description in the area.

Diego is friendly and will come when called. Olson asks anyone with information to call her at 250-540-3332.
