Stickle pickle solution

Vernon motorists could find out in the next couple of weeks what the Ministry of Transportation has for a solution to the Stickle Road pickle.

The accident-prone intersection with Highway 97, across from Swan Lake, has been the focus of recent division over how best to redirect traffic and reduce collisions.

A proposal to have a right-in, right-out intersection drew strong criticism from businesses in the area and from local politicians.

Vernon-Monashee MLA Eric Foster interceded, resulting in the department taking a new look at the plan.

“I don’t want to say too much until we get it finalized with the engineers, but I think everyone will be happy,” said Foster.

There will be an open house announced in the next few weeks to unveil the new plan for the intersection.

Options put forward as an alternative to the right-in, right-out plan have included a stop light at the intersection.

Foster says whatever the solution, he doesn’t want it to take long to implement.
