Chaos coming to Vernon

Chaos will reign supreme in Vernon this weekend – and residents wouldn't want it any other way.

Creative Chaos will celebrate 40 years when the popular arts and crafts fair is held Friday through Sunday.

Chaos will feature more than 200 artisans from across B.C. and Canada. The event is so large, three buildings in the Vernon recreation complex are needed to hold all the exhibits.

The doors will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The rec centre is currently being renovated, and construction is happening around the main entrance, but it will still be accessible. The parking lots at the front of the rec centre will be mildly affected.

“People will still be able to come and go across the bridge and through the lobby as in other years,” said Doug Ross, director of recreation services.

“Some areas at the front of the building and in the main parking lot will be fenced off as part of the project construction site. The project will not affect any of the display areas.”

One change this year is the Halina and Priest Valley parking lots off 35th Avenue will be open for public parking. Vendor parking will be moved to the parking lot south of the Boys & Girls Club gym and vacant lots along 35th Avenue.

Along with the artisans, the event features food vendors and live entertainment throughout the weekend.
