Cliff fall victim ID'd

The B.C. Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a youth who died following a rock-climbing incident near Vernon on Saturday.

The victim was Taylor Samuel Archer, 18, from New Westminster.

Archer was hiking with friends in an area near the King Edward forest service road about 15 kilometres east of Vernon.

He and a companion went rock climbing on a cliff face in the area that afternoon. While traversing a rock face, Archer fell about 12 metres to the rocky ground below.

Despite the best efforts of his companions and emergency personnel, the youth died at the scene.

The Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.

Police say the youth was not using any safety equipment at the time of his fall.
