Spirit Award seeks nominees

The Downtown Vernon Association is accepting nominations from the community for its 2014 Spirit Award recipient.

"We want to honour a business for its outstanding contributions to the downtown business community over the last year and its commitment to customers over the long term," says DVA executive director Lara Konkin. "The award recipient should demonstrate a tangible impact on the business community and have a history of participation in community activities."

Konkin asks the public to come forward with nominations for any business they think has raised the bar in appearance, image, distinctiveness, service and atmosphere. To qualify for a nomination, businesses must be part of downtown Vernon's business improvement area.

Past nominees include Nolan's Pharmasave, Briteland, Nixon Wenger, The Starting Block and more. Last year's winner was Vernon Teach and Learn.

Nominated and winning businesses will be recognized at the DVA's annual general meeting, April 14 at the Eclectic Med restaurant.

If you would like to nominate a business, fill out a form at http://www.downtownvernon.com. Nominations are due April 3, and can either be emailed to http://[email protected] or delivered in person to the DVA office on 30th Avenue.
