Cadet camp back to life

By Wayne Emde

One hundred and six army, sea and air cadets arrived in Vernon on Sunday for a week of training and competition.

The cadets will receive advanced training in music, leadership, marksmanship and will compete for a place on the prestigious parachute course held in Trenton, Ont., each summer.

Thirty-six adult cadet instructor officers will work with the cadets to improve their skills and prepare them for the coming summer’s training.

It didn’t take long for the 16 cadets who are competing for five spots on the parachute course to begin their strenuous training, which will include hundreds of pushups as they are tested not only physically, but mentally during the week.
