Seattle ski coach extradited

A former private school ski coach from Seattle, convicted in Vernon for peeping on his students at Silver Star, has been extradited to the U.S. to face further charges.

Jason Christopher Paur, 44, was indicted last year by a U.S. federal grand jury for five child pornography related offences.

Paur was first arrested by RCMP in December 2013, when some of his teen girl students found a video camera hidden in their bedroom.

“The camera had been positioned to videotape the young students while they got dressed after showering,” notes U.S. Attorney Jenny A. Durkan.

Paur was charged and convicted in Canada after pleading guilty to two counts of secretly observing and recording nudity, and one count of possessing child porn. He was sentenced to time served, as he had already spent 16 months in a Canadian jail.

He is now back on U.S. soil.

American authorities indicate their investigation revealed Paur allegedly secretly recorded students while on annual field trips in 2011 and 2012 as well.

“The camera seized in Canada contained images of students between the ages of 14 and 17 being secretly filmed while changing clothes or after exiting the shower,” states the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

“The indictment alleges Paur used the pictures for his own sexual gratification, and transported the pictures from Canada to the U.S. The indictment further alleges that Paur travelled with the juveniles to Canada knowing that he planned to film them for his own sexual gratification.”

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Paur will be arraigned today on the additional five child pornography related offences.

They include two counts of production and transportation of child pornography, production of child pornography with intent to transport, possession of child pornography and transportation of minors with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.
